Parents of Children with Medical Needs
I don’t know if I can handle all this. How am I going to get through this - and be strong for my child? How is this going to affect my child… their future? Being a parent is hard enough. Parenting a child with ongoing medical needs bring an extra layer - one filled with unexpected responsibilities, stress, and uncertainty. Navigating through the medical system, procedures, recovery, and decision-making. Navigating the impact on family, schooling, social settings, daily life, and limitations. Navigating your own feelings, while holding steady and supportive for your child and their journey. Seasons of more calm, with seasons of flurry as medical needs ramp up again. Even in the in-between moments, there’s still a quiet awareness and weight that never fully goes away. It can feel isolating - like you’re carrying something that others don’t quite understand.
It’s a lot.
You don’t have to carry it alone.
It’s a lot. Period. A lot to hold. A lot to manage. A lot to feel. The appointments, the coordination, the decisions. The worries, the heartache, the grief - for you, for your child, for your family, for the path you didn’t expect. It’s a lot. It’s heavy. You don’t have to carry it alone. I’m here to carry it with you.
